a better hope

Psalm 121 is powerful. I claim it (among others) every day for a friend and her family. I believe her family is under attack, and this is a Psalm of deliverance. It could be God has me at this position and point in time in order to blanket them with prayers. I don't know, but I feel a tremendous urge to pray them almost constantly. If God has someone on your mind, it's probably because He wants you to pray about them. Listen closely to how He wants you to proceed instead of having your own agenda. I never would have seen this on my own. A preacher (I listen to a lot of radio and YouTube sermons while I work) relayed this one day. It stuck with me because, well, don't we all want God's blessings?  Jesus was preaching one day and was pressed upon sorely by the people, so He asked Peter (notice He asked) if He could stand in his boat while He preached so He didn't end up in the water. Peter said yes, and then Jesus gave Peter a command to put out his nets somewhere specific. So Peter did. He was fishing all day and didn't catch a thing. But he obliged and his nets were so full, they almost broke. We all know the story. It ends with Peter saying, "Go away from me, for I am a sinful man." The progression is so subtle I missed it all these years, but it speaks of how God blesses us.  It starts small. With an almost unnoticeable request. Do this little thing for me? The following was sent to me quite some time ago. I don't know the book in question, but I believe the quotation is true. There is so much that is hidden from our mortal eyes yet visible in the spiritual. I believe that, just as God has a plan for each of us, the devil (counterfeiter that he is) also has a plan. It's up to us which plan we follow. Though we each have a God-created plan for our lives, not all will attain it. What separated those who did and didn't attain God's plan? I believe it comes down to obedience. We see David burst onto the stage and kill Goliath and wonder in amazement, but what we didn't see was how he grew in knowledge and faith while tending sheep. God will never give someone something big without first testing them with something small. David was tested. He was faithful. His obedience made him a man after God's own heart.   I love the story of Jesus and Lazarus. I relate the story below so we're all on the same page.
